This autumn brings with it a renewal of cultural events, as MEKIC invites you to the opening of the exhibition Trance: The Wings of Delirium that will take place on Friday, September 10th, 2010, from 7pm to 10pm.
In this exhibition of recent works, the multidisciplinary artist MAKFHI uses his imagination to explore the infinite possibilities offered by the art of calligraphy, in order to trace the body of the horse like an object of art and a receptacle of the ravings of trance. Marked by delicacy and poetry, vitality and joy, intensity and exaltation, these works reveal for the spectator a universe where horse and arabesque are interlaced in movement without end, to the tireless rhythms and variations of dreams and beauty.
Of Moroccan origin, MAKHFI is the author of many creations, including paintings, engravings, sculptures and web designs, and situates his art between traditional and modernist. For many years now, this artist has used and (re)appropriated the art of calligraphic writing, turning it away from its primary purpose, in order to transform it and open it up to new possibilities that arise when calligraphy meets other forms of artistic expression. A prolific artist, MAKHFI has taken part in several significant exhibitions, and a large number of his works are now found in private collections around the world.
